Nice to meet you^^ My chinese name is Wen Feng, but I prefer to use Mimi instead, as a online name:P
I started to draw while I was in kindergarden, and the teachers encouraged me and gave me compliments on my drawings, which made me like drawing even more. I didn't improve much after kindergarden, because I mostly drew for fun=)
One day, some daugthers of my parents friends came over to visit, and they left a chinese book for children with some nice illustrations of people. I thought the drawings looked interesting, so I tried to copy and draw them myself. Well, lets just say it didn't turned out amazing, but that was enought to get me hooked on drawing people/humans with more details. Not just stick figures or arms without any joints 0.o After some researching, and while I accidentaly bumped into an mangastore and found out what manga and anime was, and the name of the drawing style, I decided to take my drawing skill to the next level.
I started to purchase How To Draw Manga - artbooks and I still use them from time to time.
My anatomy drawing and characters improved gradually, but yet I think I have a long way to go before I'm satisfied with my drawings-.- I think it's because of Deviantart and all the talented people out there, which make me want to improve my drawings further everytime I see a pretty artwork*o*
The only problem is that I'm afraid I don't have enough time to draw as much as I like because of study and job and other things=( Gah, that means it will take loooong time before I become satisfied with my drawings-o-
In the recent years, I noticed that I'm leaning more towards semi-realistic manga/anime drawings, something like Ayami Kojima's style. Between, she's my favourite artist too^^ I also have a growing interest for photography. It all started with my dad buying a DSLR for himself. After trying it out, and realizing how cool the photoes looked with a DSLR, I became hooked and begged my dad to buy one for me! Which he did, yeah^^ So now I'm very happy for having a Canon 450D, which currently isn't in store any more, at least not here in this country>.<
The purpose of this blog is to keep track of my art process, my thoughts related to my art and a kind of art diary where I will keep track of all my art, well, not all but mostly=P I will also use this blog as a Photo blog, where I try to post up random pictures that I take, in order for me to improve my photography skills and at the same time an inspirational source for myself.
